2012- (SEDA) South East Desalting Association Outstanding Plant Operator Award
Process Optimization 2019 (THM Pilot) - Responsible for an aeration pilot to improve the removal of disinfection by products. This includes adhering to a sample heavy collection protocol (labeling, collecting and organizing 750 sample bottles into kits), creating a spreadsheet to track pilot performance and assisted engineers with analyzing results. The pilot averaged a +50% removal rate in THM with no deterioration in the SDS
2020 - WTP#2 won SEDA Most Outstanding Operated Plant of the Year for Large Systems. WTP#2 won this award through multiple process optimization practices developed internally by the talented operations and mechanical staff at WTP#2. Staff continue to collaborate and focus on process is an overall cost reduction in chemical, operational, and mechanical cost. In 2020 WTP#2 staff was recognized in TPO magazine.
Process Optimization - 2020 (Organic Reduction) - Responsible for conducting multiple jar test and collaborating with CPH engineers and American Water Chemicals to eliminate the coagulant feed at WTP#2. We determined that be slightly raising the pH in the softening basin we would receive the same organic reduction as feeding 150 mg/l of HPAC8223 S. By eliminating this chemical we eliminated CaCo3 precipitation on interior of pipe walls that reduced water throughput and saved the City over 100K per year.
Water Treatment Study Group 2021 - Coordinated a free operational training for PC residents and regional utilities(Palm Coast, St. Johns, and Flagler Beach). Both PC staff and City of Flagler Beach staff donated 5 months of off duty time to develop students interested in Water Treatment. Several students passed both FLDEP B & C exams with multiple students accepted job opportunities in St. Augustine and Flagler Beach while preparing to take their exams.
FWPCOA - 2023-2024- Direct Potable Reuse course (DPR) committee member. This 3-person committee reviewed course material and built an exam for the first Direct Potable Reuse course in Florida.
