Inclusion Aid
Brookesmith ISD & Brownwood ISD
03.2021 - 05.2024
I provide specialized instructional, behavioral, physical, and medical support to students with handicaps present and any students who qualify for inclusion minutes/ SPED services per Special Education Dept
I support students by meeting their academic needs and any modifications/accommodations needed to be successful in the classroom
This often looked like finding ways to offer manipulatives
This could look different based on situations that arise as each student's needs are different
Example: I work with a third grade student who could not seem to be motivated to work, he would sit and not focus or care to learn
I took this student for a walk where I asked him what is something I could do to support him and how we could work together to accomplish his academic goals
He informed me he used to have a sticker chart at his previous school
We implemented this strategy and once he got 5 stickers I would take him for a walk or let him choose a prize
I informed the Monitor teacher of this strategy and she approved it
The ARD committee added this to his list of accommodations
I document information about students according to the districts policy and the Special Education Directors instructions
I was always thorough and ensured I was not missing any important information that would be beneficial to the ARD committee
I always note what accommodations are working and which are not
I also share strategies I have found to be successful for each student I work with
I offer feedback to the ARD Committee through the documentation process at the end of each grading cycle or when requested by the ARD Committee
I ensured to keep student information confidential and private, following district, state, and federal laws
