I completed my student teaching at Franklin High School in the Spring of 2000 and was hired by Macon County Schools in June of that year. For the next fourteen years, I enthusiastically and happily taught US Government and Economics, World Geography, World History, and US History predominantly to grades 9-11.
During my career in public education, I taught a wide variety of students with various leaning and intellectual abilities, as well as those students who necessitated various modifications for their learning needs. After fourteen years in public education, as well eight additional years of teaching in the private sector, I have arrived at the conclusion that the only students who cannot learn are those who choose not to do so. No student is simply "dumb" or "just can't get it." I am resolved to the firm belief that all students are capable of success if they are willing to work and put forth the effort. I was fortunate to have those fourteen years in public education, and I don't regret a day I was blessed with that career.
Family tragedy led my wife and I to Statesville, NC in June of 2014 where I began a small retail business with my brother-in-law. In the past 11 years, I have maintained that business, as well as providing adult instruction as a certified NC CCH Instructor. In total, I have 22 years of teaching experience for both adolescent and adult students. I love teaching, and when I am blessed with the opportunity to teach anyone, I thank God for the blessed opportunity to do so. If I am your tutor/teacher/instructor, I will do my very best to see that you get a quality level of performance and "your money's worth."
