Joshua Johnson

I joined the United States Marine Corps and trained to become an Infantry Marine. The experience challenged me physically and mentally and taught me discipline, accountability, teamwork, and how to perform under pressure.

Even though my military career ended earlier than planned, the training helped me develop a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to learn quickly. I'm now looking to apply those skills in a civilian career.

• Supervised kids ages 6-7 as part of Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program
• Engaged kids in activities that helped with teamwork, collaboration, and problem-solving
• De-escalated situations between the kids by using conflict resolution strategies

• Supported back-of-house and front-of-house team members
• Ran food to customers in the drive-through and dining room
• Greeted customers warmly and provided a positive experience

• Part of Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program
• Chopped and trimmed overgrown weeds to ensure mobility and cleanliness throughout the City of Evanston
• Hosted community events to raise awareness on topics such as gun violence and poverty

• Part of Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program
• Delivered food to various campsites around Evanston
• Maintained cleanliness of parks by picking up trash and ensuring fields were well-kept
