Maintenance Technician
Fall River Water Dept

I work at the filtration plant as a second shift maintenance technician and a junior operator
I deal with the chemicals we put into our water and how fast we fill and drain our water towers
I also deal with road emergency calls (main breaks, service lines leaking, low water pressure, dirty water and so much more)
In this position I'm mostly on the road checking pump stations and making sure everything is running properly but I also take after hour calls for emergencies and am on call 24/7
This job is very hands on and very dirty and takes a lot of knowledge to know where pipes are leaking and what's causing these issues to happen then it's helping to dig the area up and shut off the water in the road and fix these issues as fast as possible so everyone can have their water back on
I work in a stressful environment but I've mastered how to stay calm in collective during these situations, I also deal with a lot of homeowners and trying to calm them down and steer them in the best directions as to how to go about their situation if it isn't the cities side that has the leak and it's on their side.
Water Restoration Technician

I was a lead technician, I ran a truck with two guys underneath me
The job entailed going over the work scope, talking to the home owner to find where the problem was coming from, fix the problem, take down anything that is in the way from us to fix the issue, this entails Sheetrock, insulation, partical board, ceilings, etc, we used the term flood cuts/wall cuts if it was easy enough to just do small cuts to get to the problem
Job also entailed setting up containment, anti microbial all the structural wood, leave equipment, draw out the work sketch, do a final work scope, going on docu-sign and get all the right documents signed, through the whole process we take pictures of every step of the way for insurance agencies as well
Insulation Installer

Within my first year working here I became a certified crew lead running 2-3 guys underneath me, going over the work scope everyday, loading truck, driving to job, going over all the details with home owner and coming up with a game plan of how we are going to insulate everything in a timely and safe manner
The overall details of what we did are blow cellulose into walls, blow attics, air seals attics, basements, knee walls, crawl spaces, put up door kits and door sweeps
Install proper vents, roof vents, mushroom vents, gable vents, sophist vents, fix chimneys, do blower door tests, test furnace for how much c.o was drafting into house
Once job was finished I would show the home owner everything that we did and the things we couldn't do, show pictures we would take over the process if insulating their homes
We also dealt with rise engineering so had a lot of documents we had to send over to them as well, everything we did had to get inspected by a team of rise engineering guys.

This was my first labor job I have ever had, within my first six months of working here I had a five dollar pay increase and was running my own loading team! This job entailed a lot of different things from loading to picking doors, trim, locks, handles, to cutting your own doors and trim, to getting everything done in a timely manner, while I was working here I was averaging roughly 38,000 steps a day! I was also certified to drive class A, B, and C forklifts! Certain days I worked first shift as well In the metal door shop, this entailed welding metal doors with fire ratings from 30,60,90 minute fire rates to loading/unloading shipments and learning how to load manifest into systems.
