CMS-A Certified Sommelier that is transitioning to Winemaking. Working a Harvest Internship Hourglass to learn cellar and winery procedures and maintenance. I attended Iowa State for a Biochemistry degree that I am still working towards.
As the harvest intern at Hourglass I was exposed to all functions of the harvest and winemaking process. Majority of work was done with facilitating pump-overs and inoculations. Barrel work such as filling, racking, topping, setting, stacking, and basic maintenance were the key skills that I gained. I worked with world-class fruit from some of the best vineyards in the surrounding area.
