Work History

Plant Manager

MAGID
12.2024 - Current
  • Oversees the Romeoville U.S. facility, managing 3 supervisors, 3 planners, QC supervisor and a team of 95 employees.
  • Over a period of six months, I completed a significant project that involved changing the company’s pay structure, which had been in place for over 80 years. I shifted from a piece rate pay system to an hourly wage. We were able to maintain similar production outputs and increase margins by almost 5%.
  • A reduction of more than 50% in labor variance ($360k annual savings) was achieved by optimizing run rates, challenging the team to increase output, streamlining procedures, developing centers of excellence, and reallocating or cross training the most effective operators to work in the most valuable centers.
  • A training matrix was developed to record the hours each employee spends at their training work centers, and the efficiency trends. This tool was used during the ISO audit to demonstrate progress and was approved, resulting in a positive outcome
  • The workforce was reduced by 25 employees ($1.2 m) through Product Line Simplification (PLS) of negative margin products and adjustments to lead times aligned with true capabilities.
  • Prioritized correct labor distribution through modifications in our GL accounts and precise charging of hours to the relevant departments where work was performed. This initiative enabled visibility of actual profits for each of the work centers (Segmented P&L’s)
  • Implemented a capacity planning tool designed to manage our workforce by comparing demand with available resources and reducing reliance on tribal knowledge. It focuses on process-driven methods rather than manual input, estimating hours per work center for non-stock and stock levels aligned with sales trends to determine staffing needs. This initiative decreases OT% from 18% down to less than 5% per quarter.
  • Since the costs associated with quality control for non-conformances were significant, we introduced a first piece, in-process and last piece inspection discipline. This initiative resulted in a reduction from an average of $35,000 per month to less than $10,000 monthly.

Plant Manager

Inhance Technologies
12.2023 - 12.2024
  • Oversees the largest of 9 U.S. facilities, managing 3 shifts and a team of 52 employees, compared to an average of 15–20 employees in other facilities.
  • Improved gross profit margin by 10% through targeted price increases and strategic focus on high-value accounts using the 80/20 method.
  • Reduced headcount by 15, replacing underperforming staff with trained, high-performing employees, resulting in improved team dynamics and operational efficiency.
  • Maintained operational excellence with strong performance metrics on 1st and 2nd shifts, positioning the facility as the top performer within the organization.
  • Using an 80/20 approach, we created a schedule centered on targeted growth for our 80 customers, intentionally aligning resources to process a balanced mix of high- and low-margin products each month, aiming for labor percent consistency.
  • Drove revenue growth and improved profitability by focusing on profitable and sustainable customer relationships, achieving more output with fewer resources.
  • After implementing the changes, the primary KPI (Dollars per Load) for the business declined from $387 down to an average of $150 per load.
