Summary

Resourceful Graduate Research Assistant and fast learner currently pursuing Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering to advance research in the Cardiac Electrophysiology field. Adept in coding in multiple programming languages, mathematical modeling, CAD, literature reviews and data synthesis and analysis.

Work History

Graduate Research Assistant, Ph.D. Candidate

Henriquez Laboratory, Duke University
  • Working on multi-scale and multi-physics, patient-specific modeling for electrophysiological studies of the heart and its parts in different diseased conditions, mainly Atrial Fibrillation and Atrial Fibrosis
  • Using C++ and MATLAB based custom-made software to model realistic geometries of the heart parts and their electrical behavior
  • Analyzing and classifying real patient data and comparing it to computer-simulated data

Graduate Teaching Assistant

Pratt School of Engineering, Duke University
  • Helped in teaching four different classes so far with duties such as grading, teaching a lecture, running lab sessions, holding office hours, and helping students to learn the material in general

Duke Pre-College Program Class Instructor

Duke University
  • Designed and taught different groups of middle school students an introductory class to Biomedical Engineering focused on Computational Modeling for the heart and brain over the span of two weeks per section

Undergraduate Research Assistant

Cardiovascular and Tissue Mechanics Research Laboratory, Michigan State University
  • Developed an integrated mathematical model of the cardiovascular system in MATLAB to simulate the cardiac activity at different heart conditions, with different diseases, and with the support of a Left Ventricular Assistant Device and a model for the Pulmonary arteries
  • Worked on developing patient-specific 3D models of hypertension pulmonary arteries using MRA images and using CRIMSON to do the segmentation of the arteries
  • Worked with MIMICS to do segmentation of body parts based on MRA images

Undergraduate Learning Assistant

CoRe Experience, College of Engineering, Michigan State University
  • Helped students of Engineering Modeling (EGR102) to understand concepts of programming and engineering design to be able to design scientific models to solve engineering problems

Resident Assistant

Residential and Housing Services, Michigan State University
  • Provided an outstanding MSU experience to residents through a leadership role
  • Facilitated academic and wellness resources to residents

Robotics Instructor

Lego Education
- 02.2015
  • Instructed robotics courses for children aged 7-14 years
