07.2023 - Current
Oxford Logistics is a contractor position with Fedex. As a delivery driver working one of the more demanding routes on the team, daily deliveries are made around Capitol Hill and surrounding vicinity in Washington, DC. Responsibilities include loading and preparing vehicle for deliveries; ensuring businesses and residential customers receive packages promptly and accurately, as well as making timely pick-ups; establishing and maintaining relationships through excellent communication skills with my concierge and downtown building personnel for efficiency allocating specific codes to deliveries/pick-ups; adhering to safety protocols and traffic laws all in addition to maintaining a well organized and clean truck.
R&D Technician
Intralox LLC
04.2021 - 11.2022
Within the Research & Development department, my goal was to leverage effective communication skills to accelerate and apply to new opportunities. Responsibilities were attention to detail and leadership abilities to bring value to the team. This position included extensive travel for on-site adjustments and improvements to specific conveyance systems, along with the many daily projects in the shop.
Testing Technician
Intralox LLC
02.2019 - 04.2021
Transitioned from Materials Management to Testing in early 2019 to expand my knowledge and growth within the company. Coming from the materials management aspect and acquiring the understanding of how each component was accounted for, arranged, and fed to production, the other side of the spectrum would be learning and acquiring knowledge of how the end product functions before going to the customer. Not having a trainer in this position, I was able to learn everything through hands on experience and asking specific questions. In my first year with the team, I led the team in tests, more specifically mechanical checks, trained technicians, and far exceeded expectations. During the first year with testing, I was running tests which required shooting/editing video to be sent the customer via the PPM, a responsibility typically for the engineers on the team. As the lead technician on the team and engineers were falling behind due to hiring freezes as a result of COVID-19, I took advantage of the opportunity for growth and expanding my skill set by taking on more responsibilities, albeit beneficial to the team in the end. In this capacity, I navigated programs such EPDM, DWG TrueView, and Camtasia for video editing purposes. In the end, my contribution to the team represented quantifiable data.
Shipping/ Materials Management
Intralox LLC
08.2017 - 02.2019
Duties consisted of managing in-house, incoming, and outgoing material. Proficient in the use and navigation of the Oracle system and Smartsheet database. Forklift skills were utilized for moving costly product, such as state-of-the-art conveyor transportation systems, belting and necessary components. Used carpentry skills for the conveyor modules, some larger and heavier than a vehicle, needed to be palletized for safe travel across the country.
Leadership, problem solving, critical thinking and attention to detail opened the door for more responsibility and trust within the company. Not long after becoming an employee I was volunteered by my supervisor to be on the A-3 (problem solving) team and safety committee. Both groups focused on addressing high level issues and the prevention of recurrence.
At the start of 2018, focused primarily on the shipping aspect of materials management as the department transitioned into a new, more lucrative, repetitive manufacturing process known as “Transformation.” The transformation project proved a success as the Savage, MD site alone generated $160 million in platform revenues in 2018, up from $60 million company-wide three years prior in 2015.
Early 2019, in pursuit of continued growth, I transitioned from the materials management team to the testing team accepting the role of Engineering Technician.
Quality Assurance Specialist
AmerisourceBergen/ Lash Group
10.2016 - 02.2017
In a temporary/seasonal position as a benefit verification specialist, my responsibilities were to first review the patient’s record and compare it to the enrollment form to ensure accurate and up-to-date information. After which, contact was made to the patient’s insurance company to verify or acquire current benefit eligibility. Upon verification and procurement of benefits, an update was made to the patient’s current benefits in the Patient Plus database and moved the record to data entry complete (DEC) for review by the Fax Review team. Upon being selected with a handful of other high achieving trainees to go live early we helped the core/ permanent team as they were behind on the current years verifications.
Within 2 months and by the start of the annual re-verification process, I was promoted to Fax Reviewer/ Quality Assurance Specialist. In this position, I was to review the work of the benefit verification specialist to ensure all patient insurance benefits had been accurately obtained and entered into the Patient Plus portal. After careful review that information was faxed directly to the physician’s office for the patient to obtain treatment.
Receiving Specialists
BJ’s
06.2009 - 10.2016
My tenure at BJ’s Wholesale Club was very much project oriented. Though hired with the title of forklift operator, I began my BJ’s career on a temp-to-perm overnight remodeling team. Our team consisting of roughly ten men and a manager from another store; had the task of removing, replacing, and relocating aisles of steel beams and pillars used for shelving and stocking merchandise. Used power tools and sledgehammers we kept extremely busy, to my preference, often working well over 30 feet deconstructing and reconstructing the warehouse layout. After the remodeling shift was over, I would typically help the overnight/ morning crew prep the store if overtime was allotted.
After a few months and the completion of the remodeling project, I was offered a permanent full-time position with the company. Continuing to work overnight, my position consisted primarily of receiving the regular shipments of freight, unloading the pallets from the truck, and distributing the merchandise to specifics locations throughout the warehouse for the stockers to work.
After shortly over a year, I was requested by the DDR/ LP specialist to come on dayside and assume the vacant receiving specialist position. Specific responsibilities included:
Unload/load inbound and outbound shipments safely and move product to specific locations in the warehouse proficiently while maintaining safety protocol.
Ensured inbound and outbound shipments were accurate and free of damage. Report quality variances.
Operated power equipment daily
Maintained a safe and organized dock space free of obstructions to bay doors and floor debris while supervising other employees to do the same
Computer friendly, as incoming/outbound shipments needed to be entered or removed from database and warehouse inventory
Scheduled appointments and dock times accordingly for efficiency
Strong communication skills
My aptitude as a receiving specialist led to my developing relationships with both shipping company logistic teams and delivery drivers assuring efficiency with my orders and deliveries. I often received compliment and appreciation firsthand, as well as, through fellow employees and management for my attention to detail, organization, and professionalism. Specifically, logistics personnel and drivers would schedule my appointments first to ensure an efficient start to their day. This afforded me the opportunity to receive the bulk of my shipments before we opened for business, while also enabling me to stock specific merchandise that might have been low or completely out of ensuring customer satisfaction and more revenue for the company. Time and again my work ethic and organization were complimented by management on all levels including district, regional, and by the CEO. Even as a receiving specialist, I was nevertheless requested for projects outside of my own, including weekly counts/verifications, seasonal resets, annual and quarterly inventory teams as well as assisting with outside electrician/ technicians and their projects improving the warehouse.
Building Materials Associate
Lowes Home Improvement
04.2005 - 06.2009
During my tenure at Lowe’s, I worked in several departments in different capacities. I began working for Lowe’s nearing the end of my senior year of high school and proceeded to go full-time while taking college courses at Bowie State University for the next few years. As a Lawn and Garden associate assisting and eventually supervising the customer pick up located on the side of the building. After acquiring my power equipment certification, the manager of the lumber department requested my transfer to his department. In lumber, assisted with much larger and heavier products, as well as the additional orders/ special orders that accompanied it. Daily duties consisted of assisting customers with their selection of building materials, using power equipment to load large purchases of building materials, operating the mounted power saw to cut lumber to manageable sizes and preparing special orders for delivery. In addition to these responsibilities, I also supported the overnight team and occasionally assisted with appliance deliveries and installations.
