As a Special Education teacher, my main objective is to make a positive impact on the lives of students with learning disabilities and developmental delays. To achieve this, my goal is to create a productive, safe, and engaging learning environment for the students. I will strive to be supportive, patient, and kind to all students, and ensure that I set clear goals and monitor their performance. Every child is different so attention to detail is a must. An opportunity of this magnitude will be taken with the utmost care. Consistency, focus, responsibility, care, diligence, and integrity are words that come to mind to represent my mind and heart when embarking on this opportunity. It's not enough to have accomplished schooling to get to this point. Now, it's time to put in the work to produce ready youth for the world today.
I took part in an Exceptional Science Fair held at Oxbow Meadows for Columbus State University. In this event, my class designed various science experiments for elementary school students with exceptional abilities to conduct experiments. Each student was able to participate in experiments. My class also made sure to have AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) at each experiment for students who were nonverbal.
During my tenure as a supervisor at a prison, I created a training manual for new control room officers to assist them with daily control room commands.
