Hello, my name is Juan Davila and I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in May 2024 (3.55 GPA). I am currently enrolled in an alternative teaching certification program called Teacher Builder to become a certified social studies composite teacher in the State of Texas for middle school and high school students. In July, 2024, I received my statement of eligibility to teach 7-12 grade students social studies in the state of Texas. The kind of classroom that I envision for my students is one that is vibrant, exciting, and disciplined. Establishing an environment where students enjoy learning social studies is achievable by utilizing inclusivity, participation, and academic growth in the classroom. Furthermore, I will combine elements of direct, teacher-centered instruction and indirect, student-centered instruction to facilitate a classroom that is well-balanced in its instructional methods. My classroom will serve as a community where students will apply what they are learning to the world around them, think critically through the use of the Bloom’s Taxonomy model, and collaborate with one another to enhance their understanding.
I have been a beginner piano instructor for nearly two years and have taught students of all ages (from Elementary aged to young adults). I design lesson plans ahead of my scheduled lessons to ensure that my students are receiving the best musical education possible and will be adequately prepared to eventually receive intermediate lessons.
My Christian faith is an essential component of my life. I have been an active member of the Praise and Worship team at Oasis Evangelical Christian Fellowship since 2017 and have served as a leader in the praise and worship ministry since 2021. I help coordinate practices on Saturday afternoons and worship with the band on Sunday mornings.
