Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and major repair on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat,tactical, and automotive vehicles.

Troubleshoots equipment with a variety of the mechanically complex major systems and diagnoses difficult performance problems and the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks, uses test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, pressure gauges and computer diagnostic tools.

Removes and disassembles engines and complex major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems.

Independently performs repairs and maintenance functions with little or no supervision in remote locations.

Conducts readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity.

Performs welding duties using electric, acetylene, and/or inert gas shielded welding processes, pre-heating, brazing, head welding, tack welding, flame cutting, pressure welding, and heat treating.

Uses templates, jigs, blueprints, and other guides to repair, modify, or fabricate metal items including repair of light or intricately made mechanical parts, which must fit in assemblies where close tolerances are required.

Brazes dissimilar metals; flame cuts metal to size for fabrication, using regular welding equipment.

Reads and interprets blueprints and sketches.

Performs other duties as assigned.

problem areas and needed maintenance; repairs and replace

brakes; ABS system diagnosis and repairs; engine and transmissions diagnostics,

air conditioning diagnosis and repairs.DEF and DPF diagnosis and repairs, air

brake chambers diagnosis and repairs,wheelbearings,wheelseals,dollies,

doors,doorseals,lights,tractorandtrailerbodyand tires; aligns axles as needed;

and minor damage repair including some welding on aluminum and steel.

Perform routine, emergency and preventative maintenance of forklifts.

• Interpret manufacturer'stechnical manualsto perform the necessary

maintenance and repairs needed.

• Troubleshootforklift problemsto include brake, electrical and hydraulic

systems, detectimperfections, potential problems,safety issues and/or

malfunctions.

• Diagnose and repair mast and attachment components. • Brake systems and tire/wheel changes.

• Work on LP, gas and dieselsystems.

• Replace broken or defective partsfrom stock parts and/or order

replacement partsfor majorrepairs.

• Reassemble forklifts and make all necessary adjustmentsfor effective and

safe operation.

• Troubleshooting, repairing and overhauling major systems to include

internal combustion engines, turbine engines, automatic and manual transmissions, heavy duty drive line systems, and hydraulic utility systems

and controls.

• Perform safety inspection of forklifts priorto being released back to the

work floor.
