James River Youth Oversight

  • Responsible for training, coaching, and leading the James River Youth Support Staff alongside Highschool director/James River Youth Co-Director.
  • Provides oversight to all things related to Jr High Ministry including but not limited to: Sermon Scope and Sequence, life groups, Service Format, Camp, Events, etc.
  • Managing the James River Youth budget alongside Highschool director/James River Youth Co-Director.
  • Provides oversight to James River youth staff assisting with graphic design, digital marketing, and merchandise.
  • Responsible for leading/teaching James River College Youth Practicum course.
  • Streamlined operations for increased efficiency by identifying areas of improvement and implementing necessary changes.



Campus Oversight:

  • Serves to implement the vision and plan of the James River Church Lead Pastors as it relates to all aspects of James River Youth ministry.
  • Responsible for all West Campus James River Youth platform ministry, worship team, message presentation, video and audio components, illustrations, and games.
  • Responsible for all services, activities, meetings, and events; including physical setup, dream team assignments, and overall atmosphere.
  • Serves to carry out the ministry and vision of James River Youth as it relates to supporting staff, dream team, student ministry, and parent interaction.



Dream Team:

  • Actively recruits, trains, and develops student leaders, dream teamers, and dream team leaders to serve for services and events.
  • Ensures weekly communication with student leaders, dream teamers, and dream team leaders.
  • Responsible to ensure all Dream Teamers have gone through Grow Track and James River Youth Dream Team orientation and that they are properly trained for their role.
  • Works to develop a team to assist with James River Youth venue setup and cleanup.
  • Ensures that all Dream Teams are connected to the team and added to the spiritual strength of the ministry.
  • Provide intentional pastoral encouragement to student leaders, dream teamers, and dream team leaders.



Student Discipleship and Leadership Development:

  • Serves to strengthen leaders and systems for ongoing discipleship of students through serving and Senior High Life Group involvement.
  • Is responsible for student ministry leadership development and seeks to elevate students into higher levels of leadership.
  • Actively seeks out opportunities and relationships with area schools, youth sporting programs, and special student events to create a connection to James River Youth and to share the Gospel.



Senior High Life Group:

  • Oversee the development and growth of Senior High Life Groups at the West Campus.
  • Recruit and train an effective team of Life Group leaders for Senior High Life Groups.
  • Multiply and strengthen Life Groups as needed.
  • Meet with the campus Life Group leaders monthly to assess strength and report to James River Youth Director.
  • Ensure Life Group leaders have what they need for their role – including weekly Life Group discussion guides.
  • Be familiar with everything needed for a successful Life Group campus ministry.



Venue Prep:

· Provide an atmosphere that is welcoming, clean, and well-staffed with Dream Teamers.

· Oversee set-up needs for all pre and post service activities – including guest services, info counter, games, VIP, seat cards, stanchions, snacks, and signage.

· Oversee auditorium chair setup – ensuring chairs are set up neatly and that the number of seats is fitting for that service or event.

· Ensure everything is ready at the agreed upon time.

· Ensure the auditorium atmosphere is ready for students to walk in, including music, lighting, LED, or screen content.



Camp & Event Prep:

· Serves to lead in assigned roles for all camps and events under the direction of the James River Camp Director.

· Serves to recruit dream teamers for all camps and special events.

· Commits to being at the campground for all James River Youth camp weeks.



Service Responsibilities:

  • Managing Sunday and Wednesday services and Dream Teamers as it relates to the West Campus James River Youth ministry.
  • Overseeing the preaching and teaching of the Word of God to James River Youth students.
  • Address any concerns that could affect the unity or the strength of the James River Youth ministry in a timely manner
  • Handling discipline issues and handle confrontational situations with students, parents, and leaders in a manner that reflects the heart and views of James River Church.
  • Distribute OOS for both Sunday and Wednesday teams as it pertains to the ministry.
  • Acquire and organize all necessary props and materials for services.
  • Ensure backstage areas and supplies are kept clean and organized.
  • Lead huddle times.
  • Set-up sound board, microphones, TV's, and speakers.
