Crafting My Own Path: From Military Service to Civilian Success
I am an accomplished veteran and engineer who forged a path from humble beginnings to a decorated career. My journey is not just a story of technical expertise, but a testament to self-made leadership and unwavering dedication.
Rising through the ranks of the Navy's rigorous engineering corps, I cultivated a deep-seated proficiency in diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical and electrical systems. This hands-on experience in high-stakes environments honed my ability to lead and mentor teams, culminating in my role as an Assistant Chief Engineer.
This foundation of hard-earned skill and strategic thinking propelled me into the private sector, where I seamlessly blended technical prowess with a focus on operational excellence. I am a leader who believes in empowering teams, improving processes, and applying a deep technical knowledge to exceed every organizational goal. My passion is to turn vision into tangible impact, proving that with determination and grit, any challenge can be overcome.
As a Service Advisor and Maintenance Technician III at Werner Enterprises, I managed both the logistical and technical aspects of fleet maintenance. My responsibilities included performing preventive and corrective maintenance, meticulously monitoring job progress, and ensuring all work was completed efficiently within scheduled timeframes.
My strong experience in customer service and leadership, along with my ability to de-escalate difficult situations, led to me being selected as the weekend Service Advisor. In this role, I maintained precise daily logs of labor and equipment and implemented corrective actions to swiftly resolve operational issues.
I am highly skilled in reading and interpreting technical manuals and work orders, and I always assessed work areas for potential hazards, ensuring full compliance with all company safety policies and procedures. My ability to diagnose complex mechanical problems and repair malfunctioning components using a wide range of hand and power tools was instrumental in maintaining operational reliability and ensuring customer satisfaction.
As the Navy's ambassador for Northwest Texas and Oklahoma, my primary role is to act as a crucial link between potential recruits and the naval service. I ensure a smooth transition for new candidates by managing their integration into the Navy culture, a responsibility I took on after starting as a talent scout.
I was moved to this onboarding position because of my proven ability to connect with individuals and keep them motivated. This skill set led to a remarkable 98% shipment rate, meaning nearly every candidate I worked with successfully advanced to boot camp.
My work in this role also allowed me to build a strong Circle of Influence (COI), which played a major part in my station being recognized as Medium Station of the Year. My success in this role highlights my strengths in relationship building, motivation, and operational excellence.
As an Engineman Second Class in the Navy, I served on Landing Craft Utility (LCU) boats, playing a critical role in their operational readiness. My primary responsibilities involved the hands-on maintenance and repair of essential systems, including diesel engines, hydraulics, motor controllers, and electrical components, which are vital for the transport of troops and equipment during amphibious operations.
Recognized for my exceptional troubleshooting skills and mechanical expertise, I was promoted to Assistant Chief Engineer. In this leadership position, I was entrusted with managing the daily operations of the engineering department, overseeing a team of technicians and personnel to ensure the highest standards of performance and safety. I also developed and led training sessions for 32 individuals, covering crucial topics like damage control, maintenance, and craftsman qualifications, which significantly improved our team's overall proficiency and on-the-job training.
Due to being short-staffed, I proactively took on additional duties and became a qualified electrician, a crucial skill for maintaining underway readiness. This enabled me to diagnose and repair both mechanical and electrical issues, making me a versatile asset capable of ensuring the continuous operation of our vessels under any circumstances.
