WHILE OPERATING IN A MISSILE ENGAGEMENT ZONE OFF THE COAST OF YEMEN, PETTY OFFICER VIJIL’S TECHNICAL EXPERTISE WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN RESTORING THE LSO DISPLAY PLATFORM TO MINIMUM FUNCTIONALITY TO ENABLE FLIGHT OPERATIONS AGAINST IRANIAN-BACKED HOUTHI MILITIA FORCES. THE LOSS OF THE PLATFORM WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN SEVERAL MISSED SORTIES AND COULD HAVE IMPERILED INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING IN THE REGION LEAVING THEM VULNERABLE TO ATTACK.
