A retrofit approach to separate acute care
services from two seismically non-forming buildings (circa 1953) on the hospital campus. The overall project consists of 1.) removal of Acute Care Services and related support services from the non-compliant 1953 building and relocating these services into the adjacent 1969 building; 2.) providing fire and seismic separation between the 1953 buildings and surrounding compliant buildings (circa 1969, 1981 and 2005); 3.) separating utilities between the 1953 and 1981 sections of the Central Utility Plant (CUP) and providing underground utility rerouting and infrastructure separation; and 4.) rerouting interior egress pathways, including the addition of two (2) exit stairs.
