With twelve years in the classroom, I have learned how to manage the complex dynamics of a classroom in a pre and post-Covid world. I have retooled and taught various subjects as needed, sometimes with no time to prepare before a new semester, with great success. I have researched new techniques and sought professional development to supplement my skill set. I have coached academic sports and served as the head of recruitment for Academic Decathlon and Academic UIL. I build long-lasting professional, parental, and student relationships. I know how to organize and problem-solve. Did you know teachers make as many decisions per day as surgeons? Nurturing and structuring are personal strengths that allow me to navigate the changing climate of the classroom. I adhere to local (ISD-level), state (TEA), and national (AP) standards. I can grow relationships within a diverse environment, acknowledging new norms and supporting diversity in the classroom, navigating how to interact with students/parents with low levels of English proficiency successfully. I currently serve as the teacher leader of the Asian Appreciation Club, where we celebrate pan-Asian cultures.
I am a voracious reader of literature, and news. I love coffee, and cats (but not at the expense of dogs!). I am eager, and adaptable to new situations. I am enthusiastic about learning new things and meeting new people; I have never met a stranger.
