My experience in start to finish home renovation has added to the skill sets I already possessed ; demolition, framing, drywall and taping, masonry , painting ,basic cosmetic upgrades ( upgrade hardware, outlet covers, and many applicable aesthetic design suggestions) . When working from start to finish and renovating a home, there is no room for shortcuts or anything less than your best. Homeowners are trusting me with their dream, and biggest financial investment. It's not only my job to bring that dream to reality but to also do my best during every step. If the first step is is done correctly and perfectly, that makes the next step much easier to do correctly and perfectly.
The quote on quote "good enough" mentality in construction with some people who specialize in one thing does not exist for me. I have seen in my time people blaming the previous workers for why their work is not up to par and perfect so being able to work start to finish gives me an incredible sense of pride and accomplishment, especially as a woman in this industry.
I attended northwestern Connecticut community college from 2004 to 2008. I was a part-time student, because my daughter was a toddler and I also was working two jobs. Well attending northwestern I maintained a 3.8 GPA and received the distinction of being on the Dean's list ever semester I attended.
While I did not finish the credits required to receive my degree, I I continued my education and love for learning in many different ways such as; getting certified to build ropes courses, getting the certified my advanced Open water and the specialty course allowing me to ship wreck and cave dive.
Also becoming a mother, running my household, and learning from the ground up how to run a hobby farm (with a large garden and several variiety of animals) allowed me to apply much of what I learned in school and also provided Hands-On educational experiences and perspectives I never would have gotten in the classroom.
