Work History

Martin Brothers Construction

Home Renovator
02.2023 - Current

Job overview

My experience in start to finish home renovation has added to the skill sets I already possessed ; demolition, framing, drywall and taping, masonry , painting ,basic cosmetic upgrades ( upgrade hardware, outlet covers, and many applicable aesthetic design suggestions) . When working from start to finish and renovating a home, there is no room for shortcuts or anything less than your best. Homeowners are trusting me with their dream, and biggest financial investment. It's not only my job to bring that dream to reality but to also do my best during every step. If the first step is is done correctly and perfectly, that makes the next step much easier to do correctly and perfectly.

The quote on quote "good enough" mentality in construction with some people who specialize in one thing does not exist for me. I have seen in my time people blaming the previous workers for why their work is not up to par and perfect so being able to work start to finish gives me an incredible sense of pride and accomplishment, especially as a woman in this industry.

The Hats LlC

Office Manager and Gutter Installer
05.2018 - 08.2023

Job overview

  • When I started working at the hats LLC I started by maintaining the shop. And that involves organizing all of the supplies that we would use on a daily basis in an organized manner. Keeping an account of inventory, setting the trucks up in the morning with the supplies they would need for those particular jobs they had that day, and then unloading the scrap and debris at the end of the day. 6 weeks after I started I received a raise, and steadily kept receiving raises , and in less than a year I went from making $900 a week to $1,200 a werk. I would take scrap home and teach myself how to fit together elbows, cut extensions and pipe until I was confident enough to go to my boss and show him that I could successfully build downspouts. I was then promoted and was able to work on site on residential and commercial properties. 2 years into this company I was promoted again to the office manager, where I set up a entirely new system including QuickBooks, a new filing and invoice system. While I was reviewing the previous years invoices and filing I discovered over $50,000 in unpaid contractor jobs that had slipped the cracks because of the inefficient system previously in place. My boss often referred to me as his hardest working employee, and then I advanced quickly, and he entrusted me with the office job as well as me still working on site because he had seen that I was honest, discreet, and cared about the success of the company as a whole. He had owned the company for over 11 years and told me my first year in the office that it was the first time during tax season that he was not stressed out. I was able to manage not only the office system my second place, but was also a few days a week still able to work on site and work remotely from my laptop between scheduled Gutter installations.
  • I advanced faster up through the company than any other employee in the same amount of time. Of which was not only reflected in my pay raises, but also in the added responsibilities, trust with special access and freedoms he gave me in major decision making, independent problem solving, and really taking my suggestions into consideration.

I'm very quickly this escalated to owning seven Nigerian dwarf goats, 9 alpacas, a variety of rabbits,, a range of different types of ducks (13 in all), and a pot belly pig. I had to learn from the ground up how to make sure my animals had safe enclosures, Safe from predators and various types of weather. I also customized each animal's preferred sleeping arrangements, enrichment that they would need to replicate the skills they would learn in the wild for example my goats had a rotation of rocks and planks to climb on that we would change, how highly intelligent pigs are and the various types of stimulation that would most benefit her, making sure my ducklings went swimming on a regular basis in kiddie pool so they could develop the skills that they would need. University Overview

I attended northwestern Connecticut community college from 2004 to 2008. I was a part-time student, because my daughter was a toddler and I also was working two jobs. Well attending northwestern I maintained a 3.8 GPA and received the distinction of being on the Dean's list ever semester I attended.

While I did not finish the credits required to receive my degree, I I continued my education and love for learning in many different ways such as; getting certified to build ropes courses, getting the certified my advanced Open water and the specialty course allowing me to ship wreck and cave dive.

Also becoming a mother, running my household, and learning from the ground up how to run a hobby farm (with a large garden and several variiety of animals) allowed me to apply much of what I learned in school and also provided Hands-On educational experiences and perspectives I never would have gotten in the classroom.
