• Oversees the onsite yard waste composting operations by monitoring temperatures, moisture levels and microscopic organisms.
• Maintains facility records to ensure compliance with the composting facility's Solid Waste Disposal DEQ Permit and the US Composting Council's Seal of Testing Assurance requirements.
• Represents Highway Fuel Co to regulatory agencies and the general public as needed. Communicates both verbally and in writing with regulators and accompanies them during inspections.
• Designs and tests soil mixes for erosion control, commercial landscapers, agricultural, and residential customers. Responds to customer complaints by solving the problem and providing education if necessary.
• Collects compost, soil, and water samples for laboratory analysis using required equipment and regulatory procedures.

Monitor and maintain between 1-4 honeybee colonies consisting of:

• Assessing the health of the hive(s) by inspecting for mites and other pests that could impact winter survival rates.
• Developing, following and modifying Integrated Pest Management plans.
• Preparing bees and equipment for pollination activities by feeding, cleaning & constructing hives, raising & replacing queens, dividing colonies and cleaning comb.
• Educating the general public and school groups about honey bees at county fairs, beekeeping club events and local schools.

Oversaw the operation of a conventional wastewater treatment plant at a heavy metals remediation site. Responsibilities included:

• Coordinated remediation activities in accordance with the site's wastewater discharge permit.
• Developed and updated the site's Operations and Maintenance, Sampling and Analysis, and Spill Prevention Plans.
• Collected and analyzed numerous water and soil samples.
• Maintained and calibrated various equipment including an atomic absorption instrument, pH meters, turbidimeter, pumps, and level sensors.
• Analyzed data and prepared periodic compliance reports for regulatory agencies.

• Wrote and reviewed a variety of technical documents including environmental assessments, stormwater pollution prevention plans and hazardous materials business plans.
• Researched environmental regulations and provided recommendations to clients.
• Prepared environmental permit compliance binders to assist clients tracking all of the environmental requirements found in their air permits, hazardous waste regulations, stormwater and wastewater permits.
• Managed data in an environmental compliance database and a document library for two nationwide automobile auctions.
• Conducted construction stormwater inspections to document compliance with permits.

Assisted both the Utility and Power Plant Departments with environmental compliance as part of a multi disciplinary team by:

• Responding to spills and coordinating with various waste clean-up companies and regulatory agencies.
• Developing environmental procedures to minimize deficiencies and ensure compliance with Colorado water quality regulations.
• Conducting research, preparing and/or reviewing data required to support wastewater permit applications, regulatory reports and management plans.
• Performing in-depth environmental audits to facilitate compliance with all applicable water quality regulations.

Managed the following aspects of the City & County of Broomfield's Wastewater Treatment Plant's, EPA approved, Industrial Pretreatment Program:

• Served on the Colorado Industrial Pretreatment Coordinators Association (CIPCA) Board and assisted with conference planning, networking and education.
• Oversaw the creation and dissemination of various outreach materials and presentations for homeowners, industries, restaurants and other industrial pretreatment professionals.
• Developed wastewater discharge permits for significant industrial users to protect the wastewater treatment plant from potentially dangerous chemicals; verified compliance through sampling, reporting and inspections.
• Reviewed, interpreted, and evaluated a variety of both chemical and wastewater sample results to assess water quality.

Assisted with the following aspects of an EPA approved Industrial Pretreatment Program:

• Assisted industries in completing permit applications and industrial waste surveys required to determine if they were a significant threat to the wastewater treatment plant.
• Conducted sampling as required by the Wastewater Discharge Permits.
• Produced newsletters for the Colorado Industrial Pretreatment Program's Coordinators Association.
• Engaged with the general public by working the "Environmental Booth" at numerous community events aimed at educating the public about water and energy conservation as well as proper household hazardous waste disposal.

• Sampled, calculated flow rate, performed analysis, and prepared discharge monitoring reports in accordance with Denver International Airport's Individual Stormwater Permit.
• Collected and analyzed stream data for a receiving water quality study.
• Created Denver International Airport's Sampling and Analysis Plan.
• Operated the contaminated stormwater system in accordance with a wastewater discharge permit.
