Julia Leedom

I joined the Ram, Fordham's official newspaper, as a junior and have been writing articles for every issue. I absolutely love writing for the Ram as it is another great opportunity to work with my fellow students to put out issues centering around topics we deem important. It is extremely rewarding to write weekly articles for such a pristine publication.

For Fordham’s Free Speech Paper, I strive to diversify the topics in which I write about. Mainly, I have written articles having to do with music but I have also written pieces having to do with social concepts. As this is only my second semester with The Paper, I am excited to continue my journey with the club and hopefully push my writing skills and ideas further. I greatly enjoy working with my fellow students to create something that is our own. I am thankful for our opportunity to express ourselves by bringing attention to topics we deem important.

I joined Fordham’s MODE Magazine at the beginning of Sophomore year.

Since then, my personal articles and layout designs have been published in the magazine every semester. I have also had the opportunity to be a part of the magazine's editing team. I have absolutely loved being a part of MODE as it has been a wonderful creative outlet and way to explore my fellow students’ ideas towards fashion, beauty, music and pop culture.. Being a part of a magazine such as this one has taught me a lot about the inner workings of developing an issue. MODE has shown me how much I value working with others to collectively create something inspiring and beautiful.

In February of 2023 I volunteered at New York Fashion week with Art Hearts Fashion. Throughout this incredible multi-day experience, I was able to get a taste of the fashion world. I worked closely with the Art Hearts Fashion team to set up the venue, prepare the models and check in guests during the events/shows. This opportunity allowed me to further develop and strengthen my communication and team building skills as I was able to work with a diverse, large team of fashion lovers. I am looking forward to hopefully having more opportunities to volunteer and work at upcoming fashion week's in the future.
