My personal philosophy concerning music education is that all people can benefit from learning about music, especially children. My goal in the classroom is to inspire students and provide them with the resources they need to become successful musicians. My students will be surrounded by positivity and encouragement in my choir, and I am determined to show each student that music can be life-changing.
I am a music educator from Goose Creek, SC, and grew up involved in both band and choir in Berkeley County. I received my high school diploma from Stratford High School, and just completed my student teaching at Westview Middle with Lindsay Malcher. I started in music at a young age, being involved in my church's praise band since 6 years old, and joining both band and choir in 6th grade.
While attending Charleston Southern, I have been entrusted with many leadership roles in the choir, including alto section leader and student conductor. I am also the Co-Director of Contemporary Worship at Summerville Presbyterian Church where I lead band rehearsals every week with musicians of all ages.
I am an alto in the Charleston Southern's "Concert Singers", as well as a soprano for the Hilton Head Choral Society. I also served as a work study for the Horton School of Music where I assisted the professors and helped organize the choirs. I was also involved in the school's opera, Hansel and Gretel, as the "Dew Fairy" in the fall of my junior year.
I have played the flute since sixth grade, and have accompanied the choirs on several occasions.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, as well as my dog, Riley:)
"The true beauty of music is that it connects with people. It carries a message, and we, the musicians, are the messengers." -Roy Ayers
