Volunteer
South Dakota School of Mines and Technology
05.2017 - 05.2017
Worked in the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology's fossil preparation laboratory as fossil prep tech. Cleaned and stabilized specimens for display using pneumatic power tools. Toxic compounds were used during the process of preparing the specimens, so proper deliberation was needed when handling certain materials. Was required to wear a mask and wear appropriate attire to prevent silica inhalation/toxicity. The program was operated and supervised by Barbara Beasley, who helped develop the Paleontology Program for the USDA Forest Service. Had access to stored specimens and did personal field work when not in the lab, collecting and preserving specimens for my private collection.
