Teacher/Teaching Assistant

Nutley high School

  • Taught three periods a day, 5 days a week at a Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior-level. Taught Earth, Environmental, Geo-science, and Paleontological Science under the supervision of the Nutley Education Department. Created the course material, including powerpoints, lecture notes, and taught this information through live lectures for highschool students. The Superintendent of the Nutley School District attended a few lectures. Left the semester early to pursue an internship at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.

Volunteer

South Dakota School of Mines and Technology
05.2017 - 05.2017
  • Worked in the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology's fossil preparation laboratory as fossil prep tech. Cleaned and stabilized specimens for display using pneumatic power tools. Toxic compounds were used during the process of preparing the specimens, so proper deliberation was needed when handling certain materials. Was required to wear a mask and wear appropriate attire to prevent silica inhalation/toxicity. The program was operated and supervised by Barbara Beasley, who helped develop the Paleontology Program for the USDA Forest Service. Had access to stored specimens and did personal field work when not in the lab, collecting and preserving specimens for my private collection.
