Over the next 14 years patient care was always part of my responsibilities but I also managed a ASC for a time, purchased all Capital equipment for surgery, endoscopy, day surgery and PACU
I arranged clinical trials, distributed and collected evaluation forms from physicians and staff before arranging final purchase and installation of new equipment and instrumentation to include endoscopic scopes and processing equipment
I was consulted and participated in planning meetings for expansion and construction of new operating rooms, endoscopy suites, sterile processing departments, and the equipment needed for them to function efficiently.

After graduating from nursing school in 1991 I was commissioned into the Navy Nurse Corp where I worked in cardiac care stepdown before returning to the operating room
In the 1990’s it was not uncommon for surgeons to do colonoscopies and EGDs which was my first exposure to endoscopic procedures and scope processing
I transferred overseas and was involved in significantly more endoscopic procedures while still working in the operating room and recovery
When I returned stateside I was primarily in the operating room and recovery
I retired from the US Navy in 2007.
