Ensuring the success of daily operations at a tertiary, 60 bed, ten triage, four OR LDRP unit in central Indiana. Delivering the most babies in the State of Indiana at approximately 4500 births per year.

Responsibilities include

• Working closely with the management staff of three managers and the Director.
• Making daily nursing assignments adhering to AWHONN guidelines.
• Patient bed placement for direct admits, triage admits and incoming transfers from hospitals throughout Indiana.
• Changing nursing assignments to accommodate the ever changing needs of the unit as well as the patient’s.
• Ensuring that productivity is met and the unit is running safely and with maximum efficiency.
• I am tasked with making sure that unit and hospital policies are followed.
• Staff coaching and conversations with staff performance.
• Coordinating care with the OB’s, anesthesia, high risk Maternal Fetal Medicine and the level 3 NICU PCC/charge nurse..

• Trained new nurses in proper techniques, care standards, operational procedures, and safety protocols.
• Coordinated nursing care on unit through staff assignments, assisting and rounding with physicians, monitoring patient orders, and communicating with ancillary departments.
• Conducted daily shift briefs to inform staff of changes in patient care assignments.
• Mentored and supervising nurses, fostering a supportive and professional work environment.

• All aspects of labor and delivery.
• Circulating C/S in the OR as well as ability to scrub and assist OR cases
• Postpartum couplet care
• Assisting with breastfeeding
• IV therapy, along with administration of the various induction and cervical ripening agents.
• Care of high risk labor and long term antepartum patients.
• Anesthesia support
• Abreast of natural labor techniques, such as spinning babies, hydrotherapy and nitrous administration.
