I am a creative and experienced teacher with a passion for building fun and brave spaces for students of all ages to learn from and with each other. My commitment to diverse students and their families extends beyond the classroom. I also facilitate organizational change to create more inclusive and collaborative school environments.
Connect with my Roseland scholar at least twice a month for a minimum of three years, assist her with the completion of items necessary for college entrance, introduce her to new experiences and places, motivate her when challenges arise and serve as a positive role model.
Created original and engaging 9th and 10th grade English curriculum for independent study students using a variety of mediums and strategies. Supervised and supported students and their families in all aspects of their education including graduation plans, 504 and IEP accomodations, dual enrollment college courses, extracurricular support and social and emotional needs. Collaborated with colleagues to create and maintain a school committed to inclusive, supportive, personalized and rigorous education.
Worked with independent preschool-8th grade school administrators in examining their vision statement around diversity. Created custom self-study and ongoing workshop series for school to examine bias within all aspects of the school. Assisted middle school teachers in designing anti-bias curriculum.
Co-facilitated workshops to give participants the opportunity to build skills and knowledge to engage in addressing racism.
Facilitated discussions about race, racism, racial justice and related topics with middle school students in a student-created after school club. Built community through identity sharing activities. Supported students in building relationships and developing leadership skills. Supported students in sharing their ideas and experiences with the broader school and local community. Advocated for students experiencing identity-based bias.
