Summary

After graduating I spent 6 months as a substitute teacher, both short term and long term. This experience taught me how to engage with all types of ages and abilities of children. It also taught me effective classroom management skills.

After a long term substitute position at Mulberry Creek Elementary, I was hired me as the full time first grade teacher. During this time I worked in a general education setting, inclusion classrooms, and with ELA students. This position built on my knowledge of the classroom and also taught me how to effectively engage and involve parents.

I taught at Mulberry Creek for 5 years, until I was a week from having my first child. I felt called to stay home the next 8 years to raise my small children. This experience taught me the most about children and how to love them well.
