Have had my contest entry photos win first place in several competitions.

In 2015, I had entered my photos in different contests. One was at the tulip festival held in Utah. It's an international competition. One day, a few weeks after entering the contest, I received a phone call that my photo had won 1st place! The price was a new digital camera with several accessories. What a wonderful surprise!

I began entering photo contests after that and had similar experiences happen.

One photo was a landscape/mountain scene I'd taken in the fall when the leaves on the trees were at their peak of color. The photo was breathtaking. I entered that one in Outdoor Photographer Magazine in the 2015, Great American Landscapes competition. That's their more prestigious photo contest in my opinion. I received a call from them, letting me know it was in the running for first place. While I didn't end up with the first place prize on it, I still sell that photo to others and am very proud of it.

Interests

I love the outdoors and spend time mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, and canoeing. Of course, I always have my camera with me. I also love to read and write books and am busily at work on them most of the time. I love animals and put effort into the various conservation organizations. I love to help and serve others. That's where I find my happiness.

Painting, arts and crafts, reading, spending time with my family and pets.

I mostly paint acrylic pieces, but am currently learning how to watercolor. There's a big learning curve there! I also Tole paint, and have for years. It's a little blast from the past, but I have a soft spot for themed birdhouses. I'm also going a little way back in my past and working on a macrame project. I also like projects where I can build something. I discovered the 'fun factor' of LEGOS a few years back and became kind of addicted to them. I'm proud to admit that I built the Star Wars Millennium Falcon, which has 7,541 pieces in it. It took a little chunk of time, but was well worth it. It's always proudly on display at my house. I already have my next big one lined up: an F-16 fighter jet! I even love to do my grandson's Crunch Labs with him!

I'm a hopeless 'read-a-holic'. I read about a novel a week and tend towards the thrillers, mystery, action, military, lots of fast-paced action and turns and twists genre. My love of reading is what finally pushed me over the edge to try my hand at it and write novels. From there, I added non-fiction books to my list of 'to-dos' and have currently written 34 books.

I also enjoy doing service for others. I derive a lot of joy out of helping others and caring for those that need help. For me it's one of the most fulfilling, rewarding, beautiful things you can do when you have some spare time.

I love spending time with my family and pets. I have this listed last in my summary because they are the most important part of my life. Being with my family is #1 and I feel very blessed to be a part of their lives.
