I am a technical professional with extensive experience writing code and documentation for software systems. I have 10+ years of experience in the defense, medical, and engineering industries. I wrote technical documentation and training materials. I am now aiming to transition from software development in order to focus more on technical writing.
● Collaborated with QA team members and software developers to successfully transition legacy database SQL queries to AWS databases.
● Wrote software, resolved database issues, and reported daily updates to client technical representatives and the Cognizant team’s architect and scrum master.
● Created dynamic online Confluence pages for two software development teams to track the project team information, source code repositories, open issues, and outstanding tasks. The client used these Confluence pages to keep up to date on our progress.
● Served as Confluence subject matter expert and provided one-on-one training and hands-on walkthroughs with individuals new to using Confluence.
● Wrote Java software to publish hundreds of online Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) vehicle manuals, which were distributed to mechanic shops. This software also helped to expand the search capabilities of service bulletins and wiring diagrams for the company’s content development team.
● Implemented an agile and scrum development process throughout the project with a ten-person team and used Jira to document our product backlogs and user stories.
● Prepped product owners for their two-week sprint demo presentation to other software teams by providing talking points and showing them how to visually represent the sprint updates and materials worked on.
● Used Confluence to document the Identifix workflow for updating vehicle information and gathering statistics through SQL queries about the manual updates, which were then automatically stored in the Microsoft SQL server’s database.
Provided fixes and enhancements for the TBFM (Time Based Flow Management) program with the FAA. Project using a Linux development environment with a C/C++ and Java code base. Used Junit for software testing.
· Developed Java software for a molecular DNA testing web portal which provided analysis and interpretation of lab test results and generated customized patient reports for physicians.
· Automated the work flow for lab technicians from the time that they accession new orders and lab samples, throughout their analysis of lab test results, and finally through the final step of automating reporting for the ordering physicians.
· Developed software to implement many new lab tests. This included defining the test configuration, the test results, and interfacing with new lab hardware. Review screens unique to each test were also created to display results using a combination of text and graphical displays.
Technologies used: Java, javascript, JQuery, JSON, SQL, XML, HTML, Apache Tomcat, Spring, Hibernate, Subversion, IntelliJ.
· Member of a small team that developed a management software suite of tools to monitor and configure fabrics of fibre channel switches. Took an object-oriented approach in designing and implementing these multi-threaded applications in Java. This software suite included a desktop Java GUI application written with Java Swing, a web-based applet, a performance monitoring graphing tool, and Java middleware used by OEM clients.
· Involved with entire software development lifecycle to ensure that our product was successful with the OEM qualification process.
· Developed C language command line interface code for FCoE switch firmware.
· Coordinated with both firmware and test engineers to meet quality assurance goals.
Technologies used: Java, C, C++, JDBC, git, Netbeans, Windows, Linux.
Developer on an e-commerce middleware project which involved a web interface for an Oracle database. Used java servlets to generate dynamic HTML. Used UML to model the design. Technologies used: Rational Rose, UML, Java, Servlets.
·● Wrote UX instruction guides on utilizing graphical user interfaces for self-developed application code and attended in-person training sessions offered multiple times per year to a class size of 10-12 military personnel to answer technical questions.
● Created Java programming training materials from scratch to train hundreds of Java developers in the defense agency in-house instead of hiring third-party trainers and worked with a team of eight to run and launch the pilot course.
● Served as the technical lead and database administrator to develop a prototype Oracle database through extensive independent research and coordinated with the team’s program manager, database developer, UX contractor, and external organizations to store and correlate telecommunications metadata.
Designed and wrote reusable Java software components utilizing object-oriented design patterns for the research and engineering department and enabled audio streaming to portable devices and recording collected data to disk.
