Summary

Highly motivated performer and instructor thrives on helping singers maintain their love for music and performing while building a healthy foundation. Singing is a constantly evolving practice that takes time and patience to develop without feeling burnt out or defeated. One of my biggest goals is to help singers maintain a positive relationship with the art form by meeting them where they are and exploring all the tools and vocal color they are capable of.

Work History

Private Voice Instructor

NEIU Community Music Program
09.2024 - Current
  • Teach students of a variety of ages (7-62) fundamental singing techniques and proficiency based on skill and experience level.
  • Introduce exercises that assist with breath flow, registration, placement, and articulation. Older students struggling with range are given exercises that promote light mechanism and mix, while children are mostly encouraged to stay in chest voice/mode 1 with a focus on forward resonance.
  • Assist with rhythm and pitch intervals so students can more accurately sing what is on the page.
  • Help find repertoire that students will find both challenging and enjoyable.
  • A variety of musical styles can be taught based on the student's interests. While I am primarily a classical singer, I have experience with jazz, cabaret, and CCM.
