Stations Design Engineering Leader

Idaho Power Company
Boise, ID
01.2021 - Current

Led team of 35+ control and structural engineers, designers, and design support staff that prepares all aspects of station construction drawings and specifications for capital projects, including large load requests and generation interconnections.

  • Responsibilities included project staffing, performance and budget management, status reporting, scheduling, cost estimating, coordination with project management, operations, and construction, and contract negotiations.
  • In 2024, my team produced over 600 electronic issue drawing sets by implementing strategies to improve design efficiency such as upgrading our PDF editing software, updating the cable list template, aligning with construction on grounding methodology, and numerous standards and module updates. We further tackled resource challenges by piloting contracted engineering services and onboarding new design contractors.
  • My team drove Idaho Power's transition to cleaner energy through the scoping and design of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects like the 150 MW BESS interconnection at Boise Bench, and issuing completed drawing sets to integrate four-hour grid-scale BESS projects at Happy Valley (80 MW), Kuna (150 MW), and Hemingway Expansion (36 MW).
  • Beyond batteries, my team improved Idaho Power's core business through the scoping and design of major capital upgrades at stations such as:
    - Midpoint (phase 2 of the project to increase the East to West transmission capacity on the Midpoint West path transferred the T501 tie line to the old Kinport 345 kV bay),
    - Ontario (69 kV and 138 kV air breaks replacement and line protection upgrade),
    - Caldwell (new control building, feeder relay replacement, and transformer protection and control upgrade), and
    - Brownlee (completed the last generator step-up transformer upgrade).

Energy Efficiency Program Leader

Idaho Power Company
Boise, ID
06.2020 - 01.2021
  • Led a team of 11 engineers and program specialists responsible for all aspects associated with the development, implementation, and management of Idaho Power's commercial, industrial, and irrigation demand-side management (DSM) programs and services efforts.
  • My responsibilities included ensuring the DSM Public Utility Commission awarded funds were used in an appropriate, cost-effective, and timely manner to increase customer satisfaction and keep Idaho Power production costs as low as possible.

Senior Engineer

Idaho Power Company
Boise, ID
04.2015 - 05.2020
  • Hired as Distribution Planning Engineer II to conduct feasibility and system impact studies for utility-scale generation interconnections, support residential net metering program, research grid modernization, and lead End of Feeder Solar Pilot Project.
  • Promoted to Senior Engineer in Power Production in November 2017.
  • Managed projects by conducting generator testing, ensuring physical bus protection, setting protective relay settings, analyzing arc flash hazards, and performing compliance activities including PRC-005 settings reviews and FAC-008 facility ratings.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise and leadership in program management, initiating action, industry participation, and community service.
  • Program Management – Co-chair of the engineering intern subcommittee (2019–2020)
  • Initiating Action – Inaugural Membership Chair of new Professional Development Network (2019)
  • Industry Participation – Active member of IEEE Hydroelectric Power Subcommittee (2018–2020)
  • Community Service – Women in Technical Careers presentations to local high schools (2016–2019)

Electrical Engineer I & II

POWER Engineers
Meridian, ID
06.2012 - 04.2015
