Performance Reviews

  • Justin Carey, is the Production Operations Analyst for the Leidos Operations department. Providing guidance and oversight the Tow Cable Manufacturing and Hose Manufacturing Shop at the Naval Array Technical Support Center (NATSC). Justin manages timekeeping compliance, potential work and logistic analysis, work assignments and priority, mentorship and training program for 22 Wage Determined, SCA Benefitted Engineering Technicians (W/D SCA), across two vastly different production lines., Justin prioritizes work assignments, contract and stakeholder deliverables extremely well. At any one time, the Tow Cable and Hose Shop production lines have over thirty-eight towed sonar array assets in manufacture. Justin manages it flawlessly., His timely feedback and recommendations to the customer, allowed for the completion and delivery of over 429 Towed Sonar Array assets to the US Navy for 2021., Justin is called upon by the customer and In-Service Engineering Agents to proof Work Instruction Changes and repair procedures., During this reporting period, Justin provided direction, execution and feedback on the following projects at NATSC; Justin volunteered to assist the Surveillance Towed Array Sensor System Program (SURTASS), which is in dire need of technical ship riders to operate and maintain the AN/UQQ-2 Surveillance Towed Array Sonar System. These volunteers, perform arduous at sea operations, and could be out-to-sea for months before pulling into a port of call. This exemplary dedication to duty and mission, resulted in the SPOT Award below; Carey, Justin A. (611048);, Justin Carey is an Engineering Technician V, performing as a SURTASS Operations and Maintenance Technician onboard USNS VICTORIOUS in Japan. He has stepped up to accept challenging responsibilities onboard the ship. Don Hogan, the SURTASS Technical Advisor (STA) for USNS VICTORIOUS writes
  • Justin Carey was sent out to us as a person on loan from the Array Maintenance Facility and we're glad he came out. In the six months that Justin has been out here he has already gotten about as much experience as someone who has done two complete missions. Before we even got underway he had already rolled up his sleeves and repaired two of the voice circuit speakers by replacing the dried out wires., His experience as an array tech helped both him and Andrew with troubleshooting the TTTS Server that controls the passive array. His ability as a quick study helped him troubleshoot and correct a problem with our AN/WRN-6 GPS system. His efforts corrected a system wide timing issue with the ICP system. He displayed an eagerness to correct issues that were outside of his usual area of expertise by taking the lead tech role in troubleshooting and replacing the RF waveguide switch in the AN/WSC-6(V) 7 SHF satellite transceiver., In the first couple of weeks onboard he took on the responsibility as our Material Maintenance Management (3M) coordinator. After 1 or 2 days of training, he had it under control and needed very little or no additional training after that., As the Day Watch Stander he quickly caught on to the daily messages and evolutions that go on at the start of each day. I wholeheartedly endorse the STA's appraisal and offer my thanks and congratulations to Justin for his dedication and performance of duties in an austere and challenging shipboard environment., Justin prioritizes work assignments, contract and stakeholder deliverables extremely well. At any one time, the Tow Cable and Hose Shop production lines have over thirty-eight towed sonar array assets in manufacture. Justin manages it flawlessly., His timely feedback and recommendations, enabled the NATSC Operations Team to complete and deliver of over 989 Towed Sonar Array assets to the United States Navy for 2022., During this reporting period, Justin provided direction, execution and feedback on the following projects at NATSC; Utilizing Corporate Reach-Back principles, Justin volunteered to provide assistance to the Surveillance Towed Array Sensor System Program (SURTASS), by answering questions to any Leidos volunteers. Justin was able to explain the merits of performing arduous at sea operations to Leidos personnel, who have never served in the military or military mission tasking. NATSC has a queue of 8 personnel standing ready to support fleet mission requirements with SURTASS. Three employees are currently deployed., Justin is called upon by the customer and In-Service Engineering Agents to proof Work Instruction Changes and repair procedures., Lean and Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) Production Planning, Tow Cable Production Development NATSC Work Instruction Development, HAZMAT Research and Development, Professional Development of Technical Staff
