  • ACCOMPLISHMENTS: I made the Security Department more professional and effective by implementing official uniforms, a training program and instruction in report writing. I also designed a shoulder patch for the uniforms. I updated and streamlined some of the policies that govern the Security Department, making them more effective and user friendly.

  • I was a Reserve (volunteer) Police Officer with the City of Shelton Police Department. I acted in this capacity until I was hired as a full-time officer.
  • In the capacity of a Reserve Officer, I assisted and augmented the full-time patrol officers in responding to calls for service; interpreted and applied state laws and city ordinances; gathered information; conducted interviews and interrogations; obtained sworn written/taped statements from witnesses and suspects; documented gathered information in a concise and chronological manner; entered data (police reports, names, addresses, personal property descriptions, evidence etc.) into CADS (Computer Aided Dispatching System database); conducted traffic enforcement; wrote infractions and citations; arrested suspects, based on probable cause; booked arrestees into the county jail; gathered and presented evidence in a court of law; testified in a court of law, regarding criminal cases and contested traffic citations; worked shift work.

Over time, I was promoted to a level III Reserve Police Officer (the highest level), which allowed me to take a marked patrol vehicle out on my own and respond to calls for service and conduct traffic enforcement. I was also hired as a full-time (paid) police officer in 2001.
