Accomplishments

  • Nominated for the Principal of the Year Award by district staff. Received Dan Woodin Award of Academic Excellence.
  • Received the highest rating of Excellence in Iowa according to the Iowa Performance Profile. Only 1% of all schools in Iowa received this high of a rating.
  • Have been praised from district officials on having a strong climate/culture in all aspects of our system. This has led to having the best staff retention rate in district over several years. This has also led to a strong sense of belonging data based on panorama data with all stake holders including staff, students, and families.
  • Spearheaded Literacy/Math improvement plan implementation which redefined expected growth in academics for all students. Led movement in creating high expectations for all and what that looks like each day at school.
  • Coordinated yearly budgets for 15 years
  • Strong knowledge base around using the forecast 5 method when looking at school district funding/allocations. This allows districts to make good decisions around budgets/allocations in the future based on enrollment trends, state funding trends, and incoming Miscellaneous income trends.
  • Our building increased overall student academic performance on standardized tests per individual by 40% over the last year. The average in our district was 12% growth.
  • Overhauled ineffective processes and designed behavior modification plan which successfully reduced suspension rates 70% over the last two years.
  • Helped facilitate a system of high level PLC work using Dufour's work.
  • Helped facilitate the creation of a healthy MTSS system. A system ensuring no one falls in between the cracks and that all students get what they need to be pushed forward.
