Work History

Foreman

Finch Paper LLC
04.2023 - 08.2025

  • Supervised daily operations and personnel on my crew (12hr rotating swing shift) to ensure adherence to safety protocols, regulations, and production standards and requirements.
  • Coordinated workflow among team members and departments to optimize efficiency in the production processes and in the event of routine or non-routine maintenance operations and/or equipment failures.
  • Trained new employees on equipment/process operation and workplace safety practices, as well as regulations required by law.
  • Monitored performance metrics to identify areas for process improvement and cost reduction; as well as monitor emissions under federal and state regulations (Title IV permit).
  • Conducted quality checks throughout production runs to ensure compliance with specifications and key parameter's.
  • Ensured timely completion of projects with effective time management and prioritization of tasks, all in coordination with my two superiors, maintenance management and other departmental management personnel.
  • Enhanced team productivity by providing clear direction, setting expectations, and offering constructive feedback and guidance if and when necessary. Always trying to improve the work environment and moral of employees to optimize productivity and employee relations.
  • Recorded, logged daily events on a report to be submitted daily to upper management and other departments. The information was mostly safety, personnel, and process changes being relayed, day tour had multiple management meetings to attend and participate in as well.
  • Was responsible for and continually monitored the safety of all personnel including those working on the Rail Way (Canada/Pacific), those unloading and working with highly hazardous chemicals, all maintenance workers, and contractors working directly in the department.
  • Performed some E&I tasks, equipment repairs, and piping repairs when maintenance was not available during off hours or during process upsets when no other craft workers are available. Was always and will always be open to learning new skills.

Chemical Tester

Finch Paper LLC
2023 - 2023

Started back at Finch Paper LLC as a "chemical tester" on the digester and bleach plant. Responsible for obtaining chemical and pulp/stock samples and performing titration tests. Also performed routine brightness/visual tests, logging the Data obtained in "Parc View" to be recorded and allow operators to make real time adjustments to the continuous pulp production operation; to obtain the final desired results while staying with-in KPI's (Key Parameter Index).

Third Hand

Essity
2022 - 2022
  • As a third hand I was responsible for Operating a monorail crane to remove completed reels of tissue paper off a continuous process paper machine.
  • Collected samples of completed reels of paper, then was responsible for taking the completed reels of paper, wrapping and labelling, and staging the finished or "broke" rolls with a fork or clamp truck (depending on quality and what form of paper).
  • Also assisted in the threading of the paper machine during a web break, this includes cleaning up and housekeeping afterwards.

Technician

Specialty Quality Packaging
2021 - 2022
  • Was responsible for repairing and maintaining the safe and continuous operation of over a dozen servo paper packaging machines and production lines. The machines consisted of pneumatic presses and cutting dye fed from a paper roll thats then ran through a series of rollers, sometimes a printing press, where the sheet of paper is then often fed into a pneumatic press, (depending in the machine), and then made into to go a variety of types of "to-go" containers.
  • Each production line was ended with a "packager", who was in charge of taking the completed container is checking them for any defects discard in the defected ones and filling boxes of completed ones my job as a technician was to ensure that these employees were capable of taking a break and capable of keeping up with production.
  • There was an extreme language barrier at this job which made it kind of difficult but interesting, as most of the employees were Guyanese. Unfortunately was forced to leave the job due to restrictions on my drivers license, due to sleep apnea, which has since been resolved and cured entirely. Currently do have reliable transportation (myself).

Flagger

4k Flagging
2021 - 2021
  • Was responsible for assisting utility pole crews with roadwork and road closures.
  • Often moved around to multiple locations as needed throughout the day and set up road closures as well as directed traffic.
  • This job was a way for me to see if Utility pole work/Lineman work would be something that I would be interested in as a career path, which it was not for various reasons.

5th Hand, 4th Hand, 3rd Hand, and Back-tender

Finch Paper LLC
2016 - 2021
  • Started this job as a laborer/5th hand responsible for taking care of broke paper and collecting samples of good paper as well as starting up the paper machine.
  • Work my way up to a 4th hand which was basically a completed role tender who assisted the third hand on the winder which parent reels down to customer rolls of various dimensions.
  • Was there a third hand cutting the parent reels down to customer roles. Monitoring quality and maintaining quotas and promise dates to customers. The ability for me to do my job as a third hand directly affected the ability to run the paper machines, primarily due to space and design therefore successful operation was critical at all times.
  • Before leaving to see if I wanted a career change I was trained up as a backend responsible for the safe production of quality paper in the form of parent reels. The main objectives involved primarily the drying aspect of the paper making process, following KPI's to stay within the quality specifications for each grade and customer.
