Rebuilding Cw pump and seals along with doing maintenance and rebuilding certain parts of the intake traveling screens.
Rebuilding the ASW pump as it's one of the most critical pumps of the plant and is safety related.
Rigging up the ICW heat exchanger which cools the water to the CW pump seals. And cleaning the tubes on it along with rebuilding what is necessary.
Make runs up to the plant and perform work in Containment that needs to be done.
We rebuilt the intake screen structure on unit 1 of the intake facility..
I also rebuilt the ASW pump which supplies the RHR with water. Which is Safety related. Aligned it with Dial indicators on the rim and face and calculated the sag.
Replaced gland housing and packing on the ASW pump and torqued it down to 750 foot pounds
All bolts required torquing and never seize on all components.
I worked 10 outages out at Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station.
Every outage I rebuild CW Pumps out at the intake part of the plant.
We unbolt the the pump from the flange of the butterfly valve which controls the water going to the condenser. Then we rig it up and fly it out into the stand and we unbolt the wet end from the dry end.
Once that is done we will fly the shaft out and replace with all new parts and then we align the motor to the pump using dial indicators made by Starret.
I've also worked on the Cooling Towers at Palo Verde for years and doing maintenance on all the fans there.
Turkey Point Nuclear plant
We rebuild both units Intake structure from old worn out style to a new state of the art style.
We used cutting torches and grinders to demo the old out and we replaced with new chain and sprocket driven intake screens which filter the water heading to the condenser.
