
Within the new landscape of modern medicine and industry, the expanding boundaries of paramedics and EMTs are slowly being recognized. The need for fast technical onboarding and individuals who can learn, change, and implement at a quick untraditional pace has been proven as a way to the future. I want to continue at that forefront.
Marathon Fire Rescue is a medically advanced department. carrying over 60 drugs in each Rescue and CCT Units which includes RSI paralytics, anesthetics (sedatives and hypnotics); and Tranexamic Acid (TXA) for gunshot wounds, shark bites, and traumatic amputations. Also, the mixture of traditional Firefighting with modern techniques used for small departments with limited water sources and personnel: Truck to Truck, drafting, and multiple fast- attack teams. Other notable actions:
o Traumatic Extrications including vehicular and buildings, knowledge of tools used: Spreaders (jaws-of-life), K-Saw, Zaw-saw, Halligan, etc...
o Use of life saving tools such as Physio-Controls Lucas and Lifepak 15. o Climbing and Repelling, for high rise and construction extrications, and
fires.
o Advanced Water Rescue including piloting twin-engine rescue boat. o Basic use and driving of Fire Engine, Tanker, and Ladder Apparatus.
The program was developed to assist young athletes, not only in the development of athletic skillsets, but understanding the mindset of the athletic professional. This included education standards, and the achievement of academic goals. These goals not only include Highschool and Secondary, but also collegiate. In many cases the achievement of college scholarships was the primary goal of many families and their children.
o Maintained accurate records of student progress and achievements, using various data tracking systems.
o Assisted students in developing education plans and identifying academic goals.
o Developed interventional strategies for “At-risk” students to improve academic performance.
o Conducted Counseling sessions with students regarding career options and opportunities.
o Maintained a positive support network that addressed issues and concerns, from academics to behavior, by working closely with families and professionals
