I’ve contributed to the MCIR on several gun violence and youth projects. I’ve detailed attempts to analyze gun violence from a public health perspective, and examined the connection between Mississippi and Chicago, where an underground gun pipeline has existed for years.

I cover the city of Jackson and metro Jackson governments, as well as breaking and trending news. I have also reported on a ton of issues outside these beats, including pressing statewide court cases and business and economic stories. I’ve done deep dives into the problems facing the state’s largest and capital city. They include comprehensive looks at the city’s troubled infrastructure, widespread blight and economic and business prospects.

I collaborated with the Washington Post on a story about the Trump Organization’s foray into Mississippi to develop hotels.

I covered education and breaking and trending news. I wrote several pieces on the underfunding of the state’s education funding formula and the connection between property taxes and education outcomes. I also uncovered the false credentials of a headmaster at a Christian Academy who forged diplomas and lied about her credentials as she bilked parents out of cash.
