I was a deckhand aboard a 56 ft steel commercial blast-freeze power trolling vessel. My duties included:

• Vessel upkeep and cleaning
• Inspected and maintained deck equipment and supplies.
• Shared in the preparing/cooking of all meals.
• Handled lines during mooring operations efficiently, securing the vessel safely at designated locations.
• Contributed to sustainable fishing practices by adhering to regulations and guidelines for catch quotas.
• Working in the troll pit running the gurdies and identifying salmon species and harvesting or releasing.
• Worked the cleaning table and bleeding station, meticulously removing heads, guts, air bladders, putting fish on jet bleeder system and carefully vacuuming all slime and sand fleas off of fish without damaging any scales.
• Transported all fish into the -40 degree blast freezer down below deck.
• Glaze (dip into water) and gently stack frozen finished salmon for final offload.
• Clean and disinfect deck and all fishing totes and tackle at end of the night.
