  • THEATRE TEAM LEADER’S DUTIES:
  • -Theatre preparation for procedures that is cleaning and replenishment of theatre supplies
  • -Checking of all theatre equipment if working well and report the fault ones before we start the list
  • -Assembling all the supplies to use in different procedures on that particular day
  • -Preoperative client assessment a day before procedure
  • -Taking handover of the client from other staff after being satisfied
  • -Take vital signs as baseline
  • -Assist in positioning the client for a particular procedure and adjust the operating lights
  • -Assist the anesthesiologist in intubation
  • -Scrubbing, gowning and gloving
  • -Do instrument, swab and needle count then ask the circulator to record
  • -Skin preparation and draping
  • -Assist the surgeon as a scrub up nurse and in some procedures as an assistant surgeon
  • -Do the last instruments, swab and needle count before closing
  • -Assist in putting up drains and dressings
  • -Then cleaning the client after surgery and assist in ex-tubation
  • -Assist to transfer the client from the operating table to the transportation bed to the recovery room for recovering
  • -Then recover the client and do vital signs in intervals until full conscious and document in the client’s chart, if satisfied then discharge
  • -Call the staff, where the client came from to come and collect the client
  • -Do resource usage billing for that particular client and procedure
  • -Also work as a circulator
  • -Autoclaving sets/packs and stocking them in the store room according to the clinic policy
  • MANAGEMENT DUTIES INCLUDES:
  • -Making a staff duty schedule
  • -Attending management meetings and involved in planning and budgeting
  • -Monitoring and evaluation
  • -Ordering from the main store room and stocking of drugs and gasses, equipment and surgical supplies in theatre store room
  • -Monthly stock counting and getting rid of expired supplies
  • -Teaching and orienting students (surgeons, anesthesiologists and nurses) in the department
  • -Chair weekly departmental meetings
  • Other duties included:
  • -Interview staff to be employed
  • -Participated in regional male circumcision meetings
  • -Planning, organizing, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of the program objectives towards the planned duration
  • -Management of male circumcision supplies for both public sector and our organization
  • -Management of linkages and referral of clients to care and treatment
