  • Successfully managed the establishment of a first of its kind Community of Practice for Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) Program Managers across Africa (Kikundi). This included a digital platform to collaborate and learn from one another toward achieving their national and global NTD goals.
  • Provided support to over 34 NTD staff from registration to successful completion of 10 weeks long online courses in Leadership and Management in Health, Project Management in Global Health, Monitoring and Evaluation in Global Health, Fundamentals of Implementation Science, and Policy Development and Advocacy in Global health at the University of Washington. This led to the award of a combined 76 certificates including eight in NTD Leadership.
  • Part of my role as a co-manager of the Kikundi Community of Practice was to manage the content of the CoP digital platform, including accessing and summarizing new and existing NTD resources and literature and managing message boards. Also populated the digital platform with content (discussion questions, new resources, etc) that inspires participation, conversation, and connection. Additionally, Coordinated the implementation of improvements in platform design, content, and usability.
  • Successfully led the establishment of the Leadership Council and the Advisory Committee of the Community of Practice and oversaw the recruitment of new members.
  • Led the coordination of several meetings with partners including a side meeting at the 2022 American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) annual meeting. Also co-facilitated two annual site visits where we brought NTD Program Managers from different countries to Rwanda in 2021 and Senegal in 2023 to learn from one another. This has led to strong partnerships with several partners including government partners across Africa.
  • Successfully led the coordination of partnerships with many organizations including the Expanded Special Project for Elimination of NTDs (ESPEN), and the ASTMH.

  • During my leadership, Sierra Leone stopped mass drug administration for lymphatic filariasis in eight health districts out of 14 endemic districts and significantly reduced the prevalence of schistosomiasis and soil transmitted helminths in the country.
  • Provided support for training and refresher training of district NTD teams and supervised cascade training of peripheral health unit staff and community drug distributors to ensure that pre-established guidelines were followed.
  • Led the preparation of several grants including the 'ACT to End NTDs in Africa' grant 2018-2023 at the country level. Also supervised the closeout of the End Neglected Tropical Diseases in Africa (END in Africa) project. Additionally, I supervised four rounds of the TOMS shoe-giving program that gave 200,000 pairs of shoes annually to help motivate Community Drug Distributors by supporting their families.
  • Coordinated the development of new M&E and training tools, and the updating of old tools including reporting forms, supervision checklists, and training manuals.
