As Station Manager, I lead a team of 16 students in running and operating our student-run radio station, KJHK 90.7. I create and distribute our monthly newsletter, lead three meetings each week, collect materials for award submissions for national conferences, organize station events for our staff and volunteers to enjoy, write and collect contracts for bands, and generally overlook and make sure my team is feeling confident in their work and have the support they need.
Audio reader is an accessibility service based for those who are visually impaired or blind by broadcasting readings of local and national newspapers as well as books and entertainment. As an audio intern, my job is to help edit the files recorded by our volunteers for broadcast, as well as create and produce independent projects created for on-air entertainment.
Worked in the print shop in association with the University of Kansas's Bookstore. Prepared files for print through use of adobe software. Operated the machines within the print shop to produce posters, flyers, perfect-bound books as well as coil, and any other project customers requested. Helped the bookstore during staff shortages, and generally acted as a point of help for people visiting the Kansas Student Union.
Created and edited video content for KJHK 90.7's promotions and social media pages alongside the rest of the station's staff and volunteers. Helped lead a volunteer staff when creating videos, and generally helped around the station whenever the need arose.
Worked with KJHK 90.7 student staff and volunteers to produce audio content that aired on KJHK's broadcast across Lawrence and the surrounding towns. Helped lead a staff of volunteers and taught students how to use the recording space, and aided with student projects. As well as helped KJHK staff with any events we planned across town regardless of if it pertained to my job description.
