Unified Sports is a program in which children and young adults have disabilities. They play all sorts of different sports across the Ventura County area. As a volunteer, I paired up with any of the children without a parent and be their buddy. As their buddy, I would help guide them or assist them while playing the sport. Unified Sports is also Special Olympics and it helps peers gain sportsmanship, friendships, and good memories.
Miracle League is the same as Unified Sports and Special Olympics but the sport is only Baseball. In Miracle League, the ages range from 8-18 years old and my role was to be an aid/ buddy for a player who didn't have a parent to help them on the field. The organization that runs Miracle League want to provide special needs players independence and a safe place to play baseball amongst peers. From participating in Miracle League, the players gain good memories, fun times, and to play the sport they love.
