As a patient care representative my job responsibilities are as followed. Greeting all patients in a friendly manner, verifying all insurance information, collecting co-pays/previous balances, having the patient update any forms that were over due, answering phone calls, scheduling appointments following the guidelines of each provider, scanning in documents into patients charts properly, checking the fax inbox periodically and sending to the proper staff member, giving patients specific information of a specialist if the physician is referring them, maintaining all HIPAA and OSHA guidelines, guiding patients with troubles on the online patient portal, printing off reviewed lab results or test results and mailing them to the patient upon request, scheduling any tests that the physician placed and order for (CT/MRI/ECHO/Stress Test/EMG/X-Ray/DEXA/Doppler), keeping my desk and the waiting area clean/disinfected, making sure that there is an order placed when a patient needs blood drawn and if there isn't an order then obtaining one from the provider, making sure there are plenty of copies of forms needed throughout the day, matching up money collected to the printed report at the end of the day, locking up all reports/money/keys at closing, locking the front door. One of the most important duties of this job is to make sure the patient is happy and they have a clear understanding of where their health lies. Making sure that the patient fully understands the meaning of their lab values, medications they are taking, and why they need to see a specialist or have a test done. Giving patients proper information to keep them healthy, with a smile on your face is the goal.
As not only the lead preschool teacher, but also the PM/evening supervisor, there were many responsibilities at this job. The most important duty was to make sure (at all times) to know exactly how many children were under my care. Daily responsibilities also included, making lesson plans, leading circle time every morning, changing diapers, documenting and notifying parent if a child got hurt or was sick and documenting appropriately, directing arts and crafts time, preforming activities as close to scheduled time as possible to keep the children on the same daily schedule, teaching and preforming proper hand hygiene, documenting what food and how much the child ate and how many times they used the bathroom, keeping a clean/sanitized classroom, communicating properly with all of the parents/guardians of the children at pick-up and making sure any complaints/concerns were addressed. I also went through training to get my MAT (medication administration trained) certification. This allowed me to give children their nebulizer treatments when needed. As the evening supervisor, I was responsible for ensuing that the building was locked every night, all classrooms were properly cleaned/disinfected, all laundry was put from the washer to the dryer, all dishes were washed in the kitchen, all the children and parents had left the building, all lights and music were turned off, all closing staff was clocked out as close to the proper time as possible. The most important duty of this job was making sure all of the children were safe and accounted for at all times. Communicating well with all the parents daily was also very important.
As a receptionist at a hair salon, my responsibilities were as followed. Promptly answer phone calls, schedule appointments, collect payments, wash/dry/fold towels, sweep the floors, wipe down each station at the end of the day, dump out used barbicide and refill it with fresh cleaning solution, take inventory of hair colors/developers/clips/combs/brushes/rollers and place an order as needed. The most important part of this job is customer service. Making sure that every client that came in was happy/satisfied when they left.
My customer service is one of my best skills I am thrive to help the patient out as much as possible with whatever they may be requesting I always have a positive attitude and a smile on my face I can handle difficult patient in many different situations without getting frustrated Being able to make people feel that they are receiving the service they deserve is a skill that I have and is always a skill needed when working with the public
Patient education is very important because each patient has a different health literacy level I am able to interpret medical information/terms to a patient in a way that they will understand
I am experienced in working with patient medical records I am able to walk patients through filling out medical record release forms and ensure that they know what it means I can obtain records and distribute them however the patient requests them Either a paper copy that they can pick up or have mailed, or sent to another medical office
Documentation is a skill that I practice daily I always document any important patient information weather it be about their insurance, a billing note, or an encounter with the patient I've taken a medical terminology class which makes documenting in medical charts a professional skill of mine
Scheduling appointments meeting all the specifications that each provider has, has been a skill I've acquired over time I make notes for each provider that I work with for their daily schedule I make sure that I schedule patients in the correct amount of time, correct day, and the proper length of time between appointment For example, when scheduling annual physicals, you typically book them a year and a day part
Going along with customer service, is how well I build rapport with patients When patients come in every two weeks for a PT/INR or monthly for an injection, I am able to build a relationship with them because of how often I see them I am great with greeting them by their name when they come in and talking/asking them about whats going on in their life
I am use to a fast paced work environment, making multi-taking one of my greatest skills Not only am I good with juggling multiples tasks but I am also very thorough and always go back and check my work I make reminders/notes to make sure all tasks have been completed correctly I am very organized with my work which makes my multitasking easier to manage
When it comes to meeting deadlines, I am very proficient at my job I tend to get work done early and I avoid procrastinating Getting work done before the deadline, allows time to go back and check over anything to catch any mistakes that may have been made
I have been trained on the EMR system ECW This is the only medical record system I've used I have been working with ECW for 3 years now I am very familiar with how to properly work with it I am also familiar with obtaining Cleveland heart labs for patients receiving in depth cardiovascular tests
Communication is a great skill I've learned well over time from working with many types of people I am great with patient communication as well as co-workers I communicate with my employers as often as possible throughout the work day to ensure that we are always on the same page In the medical field I have learned when to communicate with nurses Communication via phone, message on the EMR system, or in person are necessary with health care providers and nurses I am able to decipher well what information may need to be just a call, message, in person or urgent matter This also goes alone with decision making skills
