- Schedule regular preventive maintenance prior to set up or use of the anesthesia equipment for the procedure or operation.
- Adjust and monitor injectable and inhaled anesthesia and sedation by thoroughly assessing the vitals and health of patients.

- Prepares and operates auto transfusion equipment.

- Supports administrative decisions and assures implementation and compliance with all department, institutional and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Orient and train new staff members and students to the role and responsibilities of anesthesia technician.
- Monitor patient before, during, and after anesthesia and counteract adverse reactions or complications.
- Gather the list of procedures and prepare the supplies needed for prepping a patient for surgery; this includes preparing all pressure lines, regional supplies, invasive monitoring lines such as arterial, CVP, PA, and Swan Ganz.
- Operate all common physiological monitors – EKG, Pulse, C02 monitor, I-Stat, Ultrasound, BP monitor cuffs, etc.
- Support with proper positioning of patients for invasive monitoring lines insertion, the introduction of spinal anesthesia, epidurals, placement of transesophageal echo (TEE) probe, and other ultrasound devices.
- Communicate with patients before the surgery, taking vital signs and explaining to the patient the next steps.
- Leverage attention to detail competency to check and recheck the equipment and perform calibration before the surgery.
- Clean and sterilize equipment, refill medicines, orders stocks, and prepare the operating room for the next procedure.
- Maintained and cleaned anesthesia machines by changing soda-lime, refilling vaporizers with anesthetic agents and replacing nitrous, oxygen and air cylinders.
- Stocked anesthesia supplies in anesthetizing locations, fiber optic carts, ploss carts and emergency airway bags.
