Responsible for management of the Decedent Affairs Program in the Southwest Region. Coordinates disposition of remains for inpatient hospital deaths and deaths of active-duty Navy and Marine Corps personnel who die in the regional area of jurisdiction. Advises military service members from other branches of service and their families on decedent affairs and veterans’ affairs entitlements to include death, funeral, transportation, family service, and group life insurance. Coordinates with various military casualty organizations and government mortuary agents in the disposition of active duty remains. Manages over 210 casualty cases annually for active duty and retirees/dependents. Prepares and submits reports to the casualty office to report the death of service members. Inspect files for accuracy and direct destruction of files as required.
