Stabilization and transport of critically ill newborn infants and children throughout the Hawaiian islands, as well as medical transport to mainland US for specialty/ critical surgeries and care.
Experience resuscitating, stabilizing, and transporting newborns as young as 23 weeks gestation, to Honolulu women's and children's ICUs, performing advanced skill such as intubation, central line placement, needle thoracotomy, chest tube placement, IV placement, fluid resuscitation, and full advanced life support for critically ill newborn infants and children in an RN/RRT/paramedic team.
Assessment, evaluation, stabilization, intervention, monitoring, and care of critically ill infants and children. Coordinating care of patients, education, resource, and set up/ take down and management of CVVH (continuous veno-venous hemodialysis) circuits. Resource/ mentor/ preceptor for students as well as new hires.
Complex, comprehensive care of medically fragile infants and children such as patients with hypoplastic left hearts on prostaglandin infusion awaiting heart transplant, or patients with liver failure and short gut syndrome awaiting liver/bowel transplants.
Assessment, evaluation, stabilization of critically ill infants and children. Complex interdisciplinary care of patients and their families.
Previous certification in pediatric, neonatal, and advanced cardiac life support, previous NRP and PALS instructor
Strong in ability to assess, evaluate, stabilize critically ill infants, children and adults
Expert IV skills, previous proficiency at advanced skills such as intubation, central line placement, needle thoracotomy and chest tube placement
Patient and family advocate in multidisciplinary approach to best practice, and evidence based practice
Perform 12 lead EKG
Provide pain relief as well as mod and deep sedation as needed
Current BLS and PALS certification
