I started with Scantibodies Laboratory as a shipping coordinator.
I was then promoted to shipping supervisor, and finally to shipping manager. I was responsible for ensuring my team followed the SOPs and ensuring all customers' orders were shipped in a timely manner and to each customer's specifications. I also oversaw the distribution center in a separate building, here we did the shipping distribution for another company. I worked very closely with the customer to ensure their shipments were processed smoothly, and if any errors arose, I would contact the customer as soon as possible to let them know of the issue and to follow their instructions on how they would like us to proceed with the order.
I would follow up in the following days after shipment to ensure shipments were delivered in a timely manner, and if for some reason there was a delay, I would contact the shipping companies and request answers for the disruption. I would then contact the billing department and request them to provide my company with the appropriate credits for late shipments that were within FedEx, UPS, etc. control. I would redline the invoices with the revised, correct charges, and then send the invoices to accounts payable for payment processing.
My team and I were responsible for ensuring our shipping supplies were always in stock and ordering needed supplies in a timely manner to ensure we did not run out of shipping supplies.
I began my career at Home Depot in March 2003 as a cashier. Within a six-month period, I was promoted to the returns desk where my primary responsibilities were to handle the returns of merchandise, credit customers' accounts, and restock merchandise. Approximately four months later, I was promoted to Special Services, where I was on a team whose primary responsibility was to place special orders for the many contractors and customers who have their accounts with Home Depot. In addition, I was responsible for contacting customers to advise of delays or to advise that their orders had arrived.
Secondary responsibilities:
I was then promoted to the back office/vault. I was the primary vault teller and was responsible for completing change requests, preparing deposits, and ensuring the vault balanced throughout the day at $52,000, as well as at the end of the day. Additionally, I was also the supervisor's assistant and helped in completing excess paperwork, processing reports, and assisting in new-hire hands-on training.
