Summary

I have completed 5+ years of field work in diverse habitats of Vidarbha assisting on projects related to wetland monitoring and wildlife conservation. Being an avid birder, quick to learn new technology, and having a meticulous approach has made me an asset on the projects I have worked on. My goals are to professionally grow whilst conserving the precious wildlife of Gondia district, particularly to see Sarus Cranes in their historical habitat.

Work History

Field Technician and Assistant

I work on a PhD level project titled "Opportunities and Trade-offs to habitat conservation for waterbirds in Gondia district, Maharashtra" since 2020


  • Conducted seasonal waterbird counts and habitat assessments for 26 wetlands (including Sarus Crane sites) over 8 seasons in Gondia district.
  • Conducted a workshop for all birders of Gondia to spread awareness about the eBird platform and created a social media platform for future communications.
  • Conducted informal interviews with members of Gram Panchayat in several villages
  • Co-designed and installed hardware setup for installations of staff gauges, sensors, and groundwater monitoring wells.
  • Assisted supervisor with conducting challenging installations with labourers and other technicians.
  • Kept detailed records of field measurements and data for surface hydrology and waterbird habitat assessments.
  • Prepared and submitted reports to document work performed, discuss issues, and seek guidance to improve field measurements.
  • Set up networking meetings between non-profit members, government officials, and researchers.

Worked on a project titled "Integrated Habitat Conservation and Eco-Development In Vidarbha Tiger Landscape" funded by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)


  • Conducted wildlife awareness in schools and community gatherings in 13 project villages
  • Was a core member of the human-wildlife conflict mitigation team and facilitated the creation of the Primary Response Team
  • Conducted water management work to support mammal populations in unprotected forest areas

  • Trained as ‘Broadband technician' under N.S.D.C. (National Skill Development Corporation) by Government of India. Under this, I learned installation, configuration and testing of CPE (modern, routers, and switches) for broadband access and establishing connectivity at customer premises
