As an OAS I primarily work our Pulmonary and Dermatology "Ready To Be Scheduled" work que.
I fax our referrals to external facilities, and send in basket messages to our internal departments.
I schedule radiology procedures and inform our patients of the dates and times of their appointments.
I get insurance authorizations for our Dermatology procedures and create the new referral.
I am also responsible for getting updated authorizations for the insurances that require referrals from the patients primary care.
Over the years I have established contacts with both the internal and external offices that we refer our patients to. I have also formed connections to our patients and providers.
I started in our Call Center September 2003, where I answered several lines for the Medicine Sub Specialty department. I screened the calls and answered what I could. If I couldn't resolve the reason for the call, I routed it to the proper area. If there was no answer, I took an accurate message and made sure that it went to the proper person or area.
I then moved to our front office and did patient checkout and worked the "Ready To Be Scheduled" Work Que for all three of our departments.
