  • During my brief tenure as a supervisor, I was tasked with overseeing daily operations to ensure smooth workflow and optimal team performance. My initial focus was on familiarizing myself with the ongoing projects and team dynamics. I prioritized open communication, conducted a daily briefing to align everyone on goals and expectations. This not only fostered a collaborative environment but also encouraged team members to voice their concerns and suggestions, which I actively welcomed.
  • In addition to managing tasks, I took the opportunity to mentor some of the team members, providing guidance and support as they navigated their responsibilities. I organized training sessions to enhance their skills and boost their confidence in their roles. This hands-on approach not only helped build a stronger foundation within the team but also instilled a sense of camaraderie and mutual respect among colleagues.

  • Supervised, trained, and evaluated new custodians.
  • Assisted the administrator in developing a yearly safety plan, identifying problematic areas of the school with the Brim insurance inspections, and the WV fire marshal and purposing ways of fixing these problems; an example: by completing monthly and yearly inspections, and contacting the county maintenance department in a timely fashion.
  • As a professional affiliation for WVSSPA worked as a liaison advocating for all member employees of the school. Some examples of representation were decision- making processes included defending them in disciplinary proceedings, helping them use the union’s grievance process if they believed the employer was violating the law. This was done by studying the county, state and federal law and articulating to the individuals on how to legally handle the situation.
  • Oversaw the security of the buildings as well as enforced the security of the building by making sure all doors and windows were closed and locked. All fire doors to the hallways stayed shut throughout the day and made sure no student wandered the hallways.
  • Collaborated with Homeland Security to ensure safety protocol was in place for active shooters, weather emergencies, chemical spill emergencies, fire and other emergencies that may raise.
  • Drafted a detailed handbook of all equipment manuals and schedules that assisted with: the operation of the heating system including a schedule for changing roof units and furnace filters, location within the building of all electrical boxes, fire suppressants, how to operate and interpret the codes of the fire alarm system.
